Loving this sophisticated look for a Halloween fete! A black and white party with the moon and stars as its theme. Celestial and mysterious if you are having an adult party… HOWEVER… why not a first birthday as well?
If you want to see any of the pictures in detail, check out my pinterest page for A’s bday. There are so many beautiful thoughts and stories associated with the sky. I started printing out quotes for our lovely little girl and hung them around as party accents.
Loved this line from her favorite song, and then pulled this from the book “How Much Do I Love You”.
Here is the finished mantle:
It was so much fun to decorate for both her birthday and a Halloween party. I made the garland from tissue paper and spray painted branches from the back yard.
We used the same quotes for the dessert table instead of doing a smash cake (we did that on her actual birthday a few days before)

caption from It’s a Wonderful Life: “You want the moon? Just say the word and I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey, that’s a pretty good idea. I’ll give you the moon”
A little extra elegance was added with this beautiful pumpkin from Cara at Dear Rose Studio, such a sweet gift!
Meanwhile, like any good one-year-old birthday party, we had to have a well stocked bar, luckily I have a special connection to New England Country Rentals who have the most amazing product for parties. The supplied us with the most gorgeous white washed bar for the deck as well as black wire chairs, all of tableware and beautiful glassware as well.
It was the perfect backdrop for us to serve our hard cider sangria! (click here for recipe)
Star balloons weighted by pumpkins filled with bubbles were given to the little guys as party favors. Who doesn’t like bubbles?!
We invited the adult guests to wear black and white, it worked out to be the perfect time to do an impromptu family portrait
One last piece of the day were the GHOST PHOTOS!! However… I’m going to keep that for another post! Happy Birthday Baby Girl!!
