New Landscape Painting: Nantucket Sound

I’ve been working on a series of new landscapes this first one came from a trip back across Nantucket Sound by ferry in December.  It was a cold windy day but as the clouds broke the sky was so dramatic.

This piece is 5×7″ acrylic on acrylic panel.  I paint in reverse on the backs of the panels typically, but on the middle layer in this piece I painted on both sides to help further push the forced sense of depth.

Once it’s framed it really transformes, just always so difficult to show the depth of it in photos… but here’s some images that try!

It’s a dark and moody little  nugget.  Let me know what you think!
